Show high school news faun mcconkle reporter A very interesting thanksgiving program was rendered at the high school wednesday afternoon the program was as follows indian dawn mixed chorus original poem the day before thanksgiving dorothy pantomime the first thanksgiving eighth grade reading an old fashioned thanksgiving elsie knyder piano solo maxine polster original thanksgiving story louise dalton virginia peterson gave two vocal selections dusky steva dore and what do you say accompanied compa nied on piano and violin by miss and bob carter W D hammond spoke to the assembly and told the students that they should be thankful for their name and ad moni shed them to guard their own name and keep it honored the guarding of our name Is up to us he said and through our efforts alone can ve make our name known and honored in the world it Is our duty to our parents and ourselves to honor our names mr hammond said two selections by the school orchestra closed the program following the program wednesday the school gave a matinee dance at the star hall tor students and school I 1 patrons the thoele tooele football squad romped away with a 48 to 7 victory from the local grinders grid ders last saturday the thoele tooele team was much heavier than the moab team and though our boys did their best victory went to thoele tooele thoele tooele has a strong team which Is doped to give wasatch a hard tight and may be winners of class B moab i the first team to have scored on thoele tooele this year so we need not feel so badi the sophomore class and their guests spent a very enjoyable evening last friday at the star hall tr evening was spent in playing games and dancing light refreshments were served there was a rousing pep program at the high school friday evening before the moab thoele tooele game each class gave a stunt following the program a big rally was held the freshley Fresh les had built a big bonfire and everyone gathered around it cheering and singing the school songs mr kimbail mr W R mcconkle captain Winbourn and ex captain bud walker spoke to the crowd the school play the rejuvenation lot aunt mary will be presented at the star hall december 7 beginning it 8 clock an all sta cast will present the play which is a comedy in three acts you will laugh at the wit of aunt mary an old maid this will indeed be a treat how cart anyone afford to miss the big masquerade ball saturday dec I 1 good time well say sol everybody out and the cause Is worthy too the proceeds will go to the students loan fund school closed wednesday for thanksgiving vacation and will open monday dec 3 we wish everyone a very happy thanksgiving the following letter has been issued by the student body to the business men townspeople tuesday club club and mothers of football players dear friends the student body and faculty of grand county high school wish to express to you their great appreciation of your very tine operation cooperation co tn financing the recent football games in which our team took part had it not been for the way in which the business men the tuesday club the literary club and the townspeople took charge of this and raised the funds to finance these eames they could never have been brought to moab please accept our hearty appreciation very respectfully 8 STUDENT BODY by horace rutledge president faun mcconkle secretary |
