Show MEET HELD AT PRICE tile fourth annual meeting of the eastern utah bankers association i held at price saturday and saturday evening was the best attended and probably the most beneficial of the meetings of the association yet held according to C A robertson vice president and W R mcconkle assistant cashier of the first national bank of moab who attended as representatives senta tives of that institution in addition to the business sessions a banquet and dance were given in the evening mrs robertson and mrs mcconkle also attended the convention and are strong in their praise of the hospitality of the price ladies perhaps the outstanding feature of the meeting was a talk on live stock conditions given by dr R N mead of the bankers trust company and live stock inspector for the national copper bank dr mead spoke on some factors which may affect the price of live stock in the future he gave scant consideration to the notion that a presidential campaign affects the conditions of live stock and saw nothing to bring down the price of either cattle or sheep within the next few years he took the view that many live stock growers fail to get the best price for their product by failing to put it in good condition at the time it goes onto the market halfbreed half breed wool he stated is and for a number of years has been and in all probability for a number of years will be used in the current styles of clothing and he recommended om mended that wool growers get rid of their fine wool sheep and get into the coarser grades dr mead emphasized the idea that the live stock product the same as the product of the farmer or the dressmaker or any other producer must go onto the market in a condition to attract the eye of the buyer therefore he urged that better grades of live stock be grown another speaker at the banquet was D A mcmillan of murray president of the utah bankers association who told of some of the advantages that might be expected from regional bankers meetings carl R marcusen of price was toastmaster J W hammond president of the carbon county bank gave the address of welcome and C A robertson made the response other speakers were H M craft assistant manager of the federal reserve bank and mr sullivan of walker brothers bank officers elected at the session earlier in the day were edmund crawford cashier of the emery county bank president C A robertson of the first national bank of moab vice president and claude J empey cashier of the carbon county bank secretary and treasurer directors named in addition to the president and vice prel dent were glen ballanger of the helper state bank L hardy redd of the state bank of san juan R S bank jordan of the roosevelt state and J A cheney of the uintah state bank |
