Show TO GOOD USE TODAY A fire that came close to causing serious damages occurred this forenoon at the corrals of J P larsen located just east of the moab coop co op company s warehouse the fire started in or near a stack of baled hay belonging to mr larsen and when discovered it had gained considerable headway having spread to a board fence and a pile of lumber near by by the time a crowd of men had been summoned the flames had spread over a considerable territory and had burned through a board fence dividing the larsen fence and the moab garage company s wood yard where some tons of sawed wood are stored A high wind was blowing but fortunately was coming from the west checking the speed of the flames which were eating their way toward the moab coop co op and moab garage warehouses the bush lumber yard and the post office building about fifty men were soon at work fighting the fire and some feet of new three inch fire hose recently purchased by the county town school district and business houses was rigged up with this hose a big head of water was soon playing on the fire and it was extinguished within halt an hour without the new hose the flames no doubt would have gained headway in the moab garage wood vard and only a miracle could then have prevented the loss of the block of warehouses and business houses adjoining them mr larsen lost a wagon three or four tons of hay several sets of harness considerable fencing and a pile of new lumber in all aggregating about in value the cause of the fire Is a mystery the value of the new hose was strikingly illustrated in fire recently the school district ordered a hose cart on which the fire hose will be reeled with this the hose can quickly be moved to any fire in town affording very good fire protection |
