Show LIFE IN MOAB TWENTY YEARS AGO THIS WEEK james somerville resigned as town marshal sirs J C taylor and children had moved to john ans forest ranger was down from monticello W A and F M shafer had leased the star hall for a year the town board granted I 1 T long an electric light franchise D H dalton and family had moved from monticello to make their home here joe was moving his cattle from indian creek to the westwater section rear admiral R D westwood of the dewey ferry was transacting business in moab perry trout of dallas texas was here for a visit with his uncle T trout and family the stock growers association had called a meeting for an early date to decide on matters of range division and to take up questions with the forest service C A robertson went to the rail road this week to visit his cousins lee robertson and mrs A D mcpherson who were passing through on a train he rode with from green river to cisco school commenced at moab this week prof J wesley barton being principal of the central school other teachers were miss edith carison mrs stevens miss carol miss may chistensen and miss gettin gs A big celebration was given in moab on labor day basketball and baseball teams were here and played the moab teams the girls basketball teams broke even in two games played each team winning a game while the moab baseball team easily defeated the san there were several wrestling and boxing matches between mo eb and monticello huskies as well as horse races mr and mrs tom taylor and children returned the last of the week from a visit with mr taylors brother N A taylor and family on hill creek in the book mountains they were accompanied on their return by norma and lester children of mr and mrs N A taylor who will attend school here this winter |
