Show projecting TOWN FROM MILL DANGER during the week work has started at a number of places on mill creek to strengthen and straighten the banks of the stream to protect property from flood danger aang those who have already started the work are R L kirk and C A robertson the town board at a meeting held monday night discussed the matter of expending i some funds to strengthen the bank of mill creek in the mat martin ranch where the creek threatens to wash a new channel into the old arroyo which would bring the floods down through the center of the town the board decided to stand one third of the cost of the work at this point property owners to pay the remaining two thirds the maximum cost to the town to be it is planned to straighten the channel of the creek as much as possible and to build cribbing and erect heavy double fences at places where there is dan gerof the creek sweeping away n ew land k the destructive floods last summer the flood danger to the town has been recognized as a great menace unless considerable kaork is done on the creek another biff flood would undoubtedly sweep into the arroo with resultant damages running into many thousands of dollars for several months past the town board has been giving considerable sid erable thought to the project feeling that it is one of the most serious problems confronting moab today it is probable that the work of strengthening the anks f abo creek will continue for the next several months martin walsh rig builder and oil field contractor who has located at moab returned monday from the midwest camp no 2 api cpi the shafer structure where he had been for a couple of weeks assisting in the erection of the derrick and ng mr walsh has a number of rig building contracts under negotiation and expects mohave to have a busy season in the local field |
