Show SCHOOL TRUSTEES TRANSACT LARGE VOLUME OF BUSINESS COACH CAMP BELL RESIGNS an extended meeting of the county board cf education wag held tuesday and a large volume of business was transacted the full membership of the board was present including trustees C A robertson J P miller and H W balsley of moan william cooley of castle valleen and S W dufford of elgin it was the last meeting which will be attended by mr dufford whose expires the first of the year the other members of the board took occasion to express to mr dufford their appreciation for his services during the past four years A canvass of the returns from last weeks school election was made ana the following trustees were declared elected R T edwards precinct no 1 J P miller no 3 and C A robertson no 6 the resignation of A C campbell as a teacher and coach of the high school was accepted to take effect december 24 efforts are being made and have been under way for some time to find a satisfactory teacher to take the position mr campbell will enter the employ of the international harvester company for whorl he has formerly worked and who have offered him a very attractive position complaints had been made by several school patrons that children who bake their lunch to school were net s abing kept sufficiently warm during he noon hour provision was made that such children be allowed the use of the school rooms during the noon period trustees robertson and balsley the buildings and grounds committee were authorized to have a number cf dead trees removed from the school grounds the board decided to cooperate with the town in the purchase of a grader which will be used to keep he streets and school grounds in good condition the hoard directed that slow signs be installed on the streets surrounding the school grounds the literary club was authorized to use the basement of be old church building for club meetings until the beginning of school next year the tuition of elgin students who attend the green river high was authorized to be paid the board re appointed H W balsley as treasurer of the district for ie ensuing term A resolution nas unanimously passed by the board requesting the cooperation of all teachers of the dis act in discouraging smoking by students either in or out of school he resolution also provides that eachers hereafter will be expected to actively support the movement to li minate smoking by school students there was favorable discussion by the board of the employment next ear of a teacher who could give some time to boy scout work A large number of bills were pas ed by the board |
