Show RANCH LIFE FINE BUT SHE PREFERS TEACHING 1 salma salina sun I 1 miss stena miss lacy harry chistensen and marden arrived in salina tuesday with J A prominent cattle cattleman of utah from indian creek in san juan county where they have gave been during the summer they have an interesting tale to tell of cow punchers oil magnates and cooking misa stena forsook her books and writing career for the summer and bravely tackled the trials of fa ranch cooking and housekeeping on the indian creek cattle ranch the largest in utah and owned by her brother and W G somerville of monticello Montice IIo miss avers that she enjoyed the change and end the wonderful scenery the fruit and the ranch life but prefers the school room for permanent occupation mr christensen range boss of the cattle pool is glad to be back in salina among old friends but from all appearances pe arances finds ranch life wholly satisfactory he will visit here for several das dabs before returning to san juan and the work of winter ranging the cattle mr air christensen says the winter range is not up to par this vear due to the drought and hot weather meather miss lacy and marden have found the ranch agreeable agreci able and are ready to begin school studies next monday J A drove to the ranch I 1 for the others a week ego ago he states j that the hay crop in san juan this I 1 dear was extraordinarily fine but also regrets the fact that the winter range is not so fine as usual and declares that farmers having hay to feed should stock up on feeders this winter the indian creek country has another phase of development now during the summer there has been a continual influx of men interested te in oil development in that part of the country there ere iare now four standard rigs of oil companies there which have seen their chief development this summer and the country hicl holds ids promises for much greater activity in the future the party had a varied trip home attending to court matters in price one day and shopping in prove provo and salt lake on monday they were accompanied to salina by miss laverde who will teach here this winter |
