before noon yest yesterday erds as a result of heart failure super induced deuced by a clotted blood vein in his right arm elm ele ile had been ill for a week and for a couple of day days V preceding receding death his condition 0 n was ent critical teal due to weak ened heart action few knew of his illness and the announcement of his death came as a great shock to his hosts of friends throughout this sec lion tion mr corbin has been so inU intimately connected with the business and civic affairs of grand county for thelast the past quarter of a century and had taken such a prominent part in all matters affecting the welfare of this entire region that his death comes as a distinct blow to every citizen of the county his passing creates a void in the life of this section which it will be hard to fill arrangements for the funeral are being being completed today the services will bjeld from the woodmen hall u friday afternoon corn com at two the masonic lodge of fruita fruits of which mr corbin was a member and past master will giove charge of the services and and will be assisted by bt green Ri river and moab masons A delegation representing the fruita lodge left that place today for moab and ten green river masons matons will arrive in the morning mr corbins son tan J ji W corbin of monticello armed arnved in moab shortly after the end having been notified of the senous serious development in his fathers condition yesterday morning the three daughters have been advised of hia his death and should reach moab tomorrow morning they ara mrs emma gresham and mrs mary of laonia paonia colo and mrs edith dubois of salt lake city in adal tion to his four children mr corbin a survived by hi his widow mrs maude eno corbin his big bride of bf only three weeks mr and mrs corbin were named married at fruita fruits on august 21 justus N corbin was 6 as year years of age he ile was born at syracuse new york may 21 1958 are spent hie his york may 21 I 1 1858 he pent spent his it arving ng an apprenticeship as a ma inist when a young ayoung man he came west and ind worked as a much machinist inist in wyoming and california he lie then moved to denver where he resided for or a number of years he ile was wasp kroml romi nent in labor union affairs at denver laving having charge of the affiliated trades unions and publishing a magazine devoted to the interests of the labor movement he also studied law at D enver en v e r and was admitted to the bar of the state of colorado in 1898 he moved to moab and founded the grand valley limes times in may of that year he published and f edited the paper for nearly ten years and was an indefatigable worker for he the development of southeastern utah the pioneering efforts of J N corbin were in a large instrumental in bringing about the steady dc development that has taken place in this region during the D twenty years he organized the sal I 1 mountain telephone electric company about the year 1903 and through his hard work and enterprise tb the 0 company a lines were constructed through grand and san juan coun ties ho ile did a great deal of the actual construction work himself in order to economize econ on expenditure expenditures and nd carry the project through to completion ion mr corbin was admitted to practice law in utah and he served sey ey eral oral term ai as county attorney a po he occupied at his death in the early d days of moab he was wits a stron upholder er of law and order and fie his efforts as a news newspaperman and as an officer atre constant constantly directed towards improving improving the lavie civic moral and economic cond conditions t eions in tha the county bounty about the i ear 1008 1908 he disposed of his interests tere here and moved with his family toi td fruita fruits where he engaged in the plumbing and heating business he lie resided there until when he organized the midland Wl telephone ephone company and constructed the line from mack black to green river he ile then leased the la sal mountain company lines and moved back to moab managing both lines from here during the past year mr corbin had been working on a plan to extend the midland company lines from green river to price and undoubtedly would have carried this important project to completion had he lived another year mr corbin was married three times his first wl wife fe died some plen N avs years ago and his second wife passed P assed away about two years ago he was a zealous member of the masonic fraternity having served as worshipful master of hesperia Hesp cria lodge at t fruita for several years he was also an odd fellow for many years lag being a charter member may 0 of moab lodge e no 46 justus N corbin was a citizen of the highest caliber he was always found in the vanguard whenever there was a move on foot to better conditions in ins 1119 town and county A bom born optimist endowed with enthusiasm and a high degree of public spirit he was an asset to his community his death Is an fri inestimable estimable blow to moab and grand county mr corbin was algosi almost an institution in southeastern utah he lie was identified so closely with the varied phases of life in this section that he be will be keenly missed it largely fell to his lot during life to play the part of the pioneer to pave the way by hard work and perseverance that that others might enjoy the fruits of his hu initiative and enterprise for this reason he accumulated but little of worldly goods yet he leaves behind him a heritage to be envied when the history of grand county
