REWARD IS OFFERED fOR GRASSHOPPERS DEAD OR AliVE I j 1 S Special to The The- Telegram PROVO June 20 Grasshoppers which heretofore have been valuable only as fish bait are arc now worth three- three fourths of a cent a a a pound that value having been put on on them by the Utah county commissioners Because the hoppers are becoming such a pest it I was decided to offer a bounty for all ca caught within tho the boundaries of the county From reports received from the districts including Mosida l Al Alpine Alpine Al- Al pine bench Jand and the hay districts district the grasshoppers have become so numerous numerous numer numer- ous that the tho farmers are losing much of their hay crop The it is believed will wilt result in in inthe the destruction of f hundreds hundreds' of bushels oft he pest The first grasshopper pestilence in years developed at Mosida Moida last sea sea- son Tho The farmers made thade drags and fixed canvas traps on the back of them to catch them They destroyed tons of grasshoppers Other sections also suffered suffered suffered suf suf- but not so severely The state road commission noti notified led the tho county commissi commissioners ners that the state road funds for this county would total this yet year and the commissioners commissioners commissioners commis commis- were asked to to appropriate the county's amount which is 2500
