Show Business Men State the Issue R Resolutions adopted at Hotel Utah yesterday Whereas The Commercial club traffic bureau an or organization existing independently of the tho Commercial club has bas recently appealed by br petition to the governor of Utah to cause causo the attorney general 0 of tho the state of ot Utah to institute proceedings in iii the courts of Utah to enjoin certain dividends proposed proposed pro pro- posed o 0 be De distributed b by the Union Pacific railroad a a. corporation organized organ orSan izod and existing under and by virtue of the laws of the state of Utah and Whereas Such action has generally been taken to be bo the action of the Commercial club by reason of the tho similarity of the tho name of tho the said traffic bureau to tho the name namo of tho the Commercial club and b by reason of the tho Commercial Commer cial club b by certain p publications publications' and in various various other ways in ha having in the past accepted the work of said traffic trama bureau a as a credit to the Commercial club although not only now but heretofore in truth and in fact said aid Commercial Com Corn mercial club traffic bureau is a corporation distinct from and wholly with the Commercial club and anti Whereas For Par these these reasons the Commercial Commercial club has hM been widely criticised criticise and held responsible for the actions of said Commercial club traffic bureau to the great grent detriment of its interests and to the end of endangering endanger endanger- er iu jut ing its existence as an organization for tho the promotion of the welfare of Salt aft Lake City Utah and anti Whereas We are of tho opinion that the action of the Commercial club traffic bureau was as unwise in its appeal to the tho governor of Utah for tho the purpose aforesaid and that it will be to tho the best interests of the Commercial club eluo if all association with wilh said Commercial club traffic bureau be bo dissolved dis- dis dissolved dis solved and any support tacitly or expressly given to said aid bureau by b the Commercial club be withdrawn Resolved by OJ tho the board of governors of the Commercial club 1 That too the announcement is h bo be be and is il hereby made that the Com Corn Commercial Commercial mercial club dub traffic o bureau is not an adjunct of ot the Commercial club lub nor in any way subject to the direction of the Commercial club and that hereafter the Commercial club will not expressly or by br implication be responsible rc for forthe fOrthe forthe the conduct of the affairs affair of the tho Commercial club traffic bureau or hold boltl itself as ar having an any association with it whatever 12 2 That in the opinion of this board the action of or the Commercial club traffic bure bureau u in petitioning the governor of ot the state for tor the purpose aforesaid was waa an unwarranted intrusion into affairs which do not concern the people of or the state and that said action is circulated to create a a. distrust of the business conservatism of or tho the people of ol Utah and destroy the tie confidence confidence confidence con con- in them of organized d capital without tho state so necessary to the development of ol the states state's resources resource 3 That the action of or said Commercial club traffic bureau is not in inthe inthe the tho opinion of this board reflective of or the business sentiment of ot Salt Lake City and Utah or or of or the membership of ot this club but is distinctly detrimental detri mental to the best interests of or this state and its future well being Resolved That copies of this resolution be furnished to the Commercial Commer Commer- cial dat club traffic bureau to tho the representative in Salt Lake of tho the Associated Press to the pre press of Utah and to the administrative heads of the Union Pacific Railroad company |
