R Bradford today Instructed f his juvenile officers to seize every esery copy within his jurisdiction The seizures will be made unde the state law forbidding the sal sale sala circulation and display of obscene and lascivious reading matter according sc ac ac- cording to Judge Bradford That the chief circulation of the tha alleged obscene publication has be been n among among young people of high school and university ago age Is one of ot the thet charges made mad by Judge Bradford who declared that he has seen several copies in the hands of such y young people during the last few tew weeks An Art indication of the wide circulation of the publication is found in the statement state state- ij ment of a downtown bookstand owner that it is one of his best beet sellers II the judge says While the juvenile court author author- were planning t to visit book bookstores bookstores bookstores stores in search of copies County Attorney Attorney Attorney At- At i torney Arthur E. E Moreton stated that he would probably prosecute the men operating the stands where the publication pub pub- J j has been offered for sale The Tha law provides that officers making r seizures shall place one copy from each establishment in the hands of ot the county attorney and actions will probably be started when his copies are received from the Juvenile officers officers cers Mr Moreton declared It also became known today that Mayor C. C Clarence and city authorities a have had the publication under observance for several weeks Complaint reached me several days ago and an effort was made to procure procure procure pro pro- cure copies of the publication without without without with with- out success Mayor stated The fact that the mayor was unable to find Ind any copies is believed to to to 1 have hays been due to the fact tact that the October copies had been exhausted and that the November Issue reached Salt Lake but a few days ago School officials are understood to have been the first to make om- om plaint against the tho character character of the publication These complaints based upon tho opinion that the publication pub pub- was being circulated freely among high school students both both boys and girls 1 |
