C Tichenor IT 11 IT LO LOOKS KS as though the uncertainty in connection with the performance performance per- per i. i of assessment work on mining claims for 1920 that prevailed up lip to the last day of December of last year is to be again i experienced between now and July 1 as the result of the passage by the senate of the bill bIlI introduced by Senator Burson of New Mexico As every claim holder knows a a. bill biU extending the time for doln doing therk the b- b 7 W work rk for 1920 until July 1 next was signed by President VIl Wilson on December t 31 Owing to the fact that the mining committees of both houses of congress had reported unfavorably on bills making any any further extension of the time for doing the tho 1920 work It appeared that there could be no possibility of a II bill of this description being passed by congress However the fact that that the senate has passed a bill relieving claim holders bolders not only of tho the 1920 assessment work but but also for the first six six- I months of ot the present year ear and making makin the assessment year conform to toI I the fiscal year beginning with July 1 next thus making a an entirely new Plan makes at least an interesting situation and creates much uncertainty I If Jas las to what the house will do with the tho measure With the belief beliet that the assessment work for 1920 must be done by I July July 1 i next nett and not desiring to take chances on congress extending further relief many holders of claims calms have proceeded with with their work In fact I I many claim owners did their work before the close of last year These I I men now have nothing to th worry about Their claims are safe regardless I I I of t whether the Burson bill bIlI is defeated in the house between now and July 1 1 I The Tho men who have proceeded with their work should be given some consideration should the Burson bill become a law It would seem to be I nothing more than right if it tho the Burson bill is passed that another measure should be passed crediting all aU claim holders who already have performed I their 1920 assessment work with such work for the prospective fI fiscal cal year car of t 1921 1021 |
