Kirkham state director of vocational education Following are the suggestions made by which the state councils of defense can promote the work Appointment of a Joint advisory committee t to promote vocational education education education edu edu- cation un tin der the Smith Hughes Hughes act development of ot a plan of ot cooperation with the state boards for tor education and with the local committee commit commit- tee to assist in organizing a vigorous s scamp camp campaign ign for carrying on war emergency emergency emer emer- gency courses as outlined by the federal federal federal fed fed- eral board to assist In securing equipment equipment equipment equip equip- ment for such courses courses and to assist in securing teachers to assist where necessary necessary In securing funds to supplement supple supple- ment ent those available through the Smith-Hughes Smith act to assist In organizing organizing organ organ- izing local agencies in an effective cooperative effort to establish and maintain classes which will train workers for n needed eded service In general gen gen- eral the work of ot the committee should be e to assist In the promotion of ot true emergency training The following trades are those In which the pr present sent greatest shortage exists Truck drivers and chauffeurs gas gas engine repairmen chassis repairmen machinists electricians carburetor and ignition repairmen blacksmiths and sheet metal workers |
