C Openshaw Helen Emery 2 years of age daughter of A. A H. H Emery West Vest North jorth orth Temple street is the second victim Dr R. R W. W Ashley of the board of health has made no examination of the case leaving the patient in the hands of Dr Openshaw and accepting his diagnosis as correct An inspector visited via vis the house today and placed it onder under under un un- der quarantine According to Dr Openshaw the child has been ill about three days but in- in jantile par paralysis was ted until until un un- un- un til Ul today when the lower limbs became stiff and sore Dr Openshaw has not supplied full details of the case to the board of health but it was learned to today today today to- to day that he is puzzled to know where the child could have contracted the dis dis- dis- dis ease The parents have haye not been out of the state and the child has not been exposed to the disease in any way Frank Wylie the first patient to have havethe havethe havethe the disease is recovering at St. St Marks Mark's hospital though his right leg is still paralyzed His Ills case was discovered just a week ago According to Dr Ashley there is no need to fear an epidemic here A case or two is discovered in every large city every year |
