I Fore Foreign Girls Show Lively Interest in English Class W Work ork- ork Fifteen girls o of Swedish Norwegian Danish Russian German Gennan and Japanese Japanese Japa Japa- nese nativity are enrolled in the English English Eng Erg lish hish courses taught under the auspices auspice of o the Y W. W C. C A A. at the educational building East Broadway And so pleased have the girls become over the work as supervised by Mrs A. A L. L Bayard Bayard Bayard Bay Bay- ard the instructor that each one has pledged herself to solicit another PUpiL pupiL pupil pu pu- pil for the s school hool The girls are well educated In their respective national cultures They are simply taking the courses as outlined by the officials of the Y W. W C. C A. A in order to be able to appreciate American Ameri Amen can learning and refinement They want to speak English fluently They want to know how to read and write English properly and In order to give the girls the proper incentive for their yearnings Mrs Bayard who once taught a class of ninety foreign children is putting special emphasis on conversation L Letter writing and andI reading aloud also are important features features fea fea- fea- fea tures tunes o of the new school I The class meets every evening One interesting point is that Miss a Russian speaks reads and writes Russian and Hebrew and i is well r versed in the literatures o of these re respective respective re- re languages She has Joined the school in order that she may gratify gratify gratl- gratl fy f her her desire to speak English well welland welland welland and that she may read the English classics She already is well on her herway herway herway way in mastering the fourth reader The class is being encouraged by the city board o of education by a loan o of numerous text books being used by bythe bythe bythe the students S S
