I now on the part of ot the officers of the t Intercollegiate Athletic association of I Ithe the United States Ever since the organization or or- a i of this body which had its I origin in the McCracken conference In int ini t i 4 December 1905 to lessen the evils of 5 football its sponsors have been making making mak mak- ing lug a determined effort to bring into u its membership all the leading lending universities of the tho country and especially all aU the members of the tile Eastern big bi five i So far their aims with respect to the rr East have been a failure Within the thelast last month h however we el a plan has been i t uncovered which WhICh is S expected to br break ak f down the opposition to the orga organization tion don and enroll ever every leading leadin university in the country under its banner At Ati v i present the membership includes es only the University of Pennsylvania from the Big Five though the middle Western universities are aro quite well rep- rep resented Because of the fear that they would lose their identity in such a large v 1 body Yale Vale Harvard Princeton and i.- i.
