Show V 1 RICH STRIKES AT RAMSEY I V Special to The Telegram V V V RAMSEY RAMSEY Nev June 21 An An era of V rich h strikes and mining surprises has V been the order of things here of late this r camp taking on a mining stimulus of a V kind d that Insures great ore production t dt fo and t the early shipment m of a big tonnage V of ot high-grade high product Of unusual merit Is the strike on the V third level at the V Ramsey-Comstock Ramsey mine V Here again they have crosscut the big ledge altogether forty feet wide the pay V chute on the hanging wall side showing a aV V width of ot ten feet teet This Is an increase of V three feet over its extent on the second I 1 level where a drift on the pay chut chute V shows vs the rich gold and gray copper ore V a little more than seven feet teet wide More V than a ton is what the ore runs on the third level with V a two-foot two streak V against the talc wall of th the dollar-a- dollar V V V. V V pound variety ie V V POT V There r Is not t as much copper showing V V In j the ore taken from the crosscut as is found in the drift above but more of ot It Is constantly showing as the company V drifts north on the chute The conditions V V on fl both levels are almost identical and It V Is s quite evident e a a. few tew feet will uncover rich specimens of gray copper ore W When Wien en enthey they drive about thirty five feet teet an upraise upraise up- up raise alse will be made to the next level evel and ore sacked for shipment as they go along The ore presents the remarkable feature of ot panning free gold in large quantities along with the rich sulphides It is evidently evidently evidently evi evi- dently so heavily Impregnated with yellow yel- yel low ow metal some of it must occur In the free state A wonderful gouge Is exposed on all levels of the mine on the hanging wall side More than ten feet of it is uncovered ered giving evidence of ot the remarkable action that must have occurred This ore orex bOdy x dy has been pronounced a true fissure V vein by Mr r. HardaCk Harda k a mining engineer sent here to report on an adjoining prop prop- erty This latest strike on the Ramsey Comstock makes of It one of the greatest great great- est st mines In the Stats State and Its Hs merit is bound sound to become widespread Another e high grade find of very great n Irn importance e to this district t h has b been made at th the Ramsey Consolidated mine locally known as Dago No 2 2 The company Is sinking the shaft outside the hanging wall and Vand has encountered numerous ore Bodies I This Thi one Is about three feet e wide ll i ea Ih- Ih and ind contains gray copper o gold and sliver silver r Nearly three ounces gold seven and one one- half silver slIver and 3 1 per cent copper In all all all' 58 per ton on Finding gray copper In th s parallel vein Is what calls particular lar attention to the strike as this mine Ison Ison is on Jn a belt pelt separate and distinct from the Ramsey Comstock where was found the same character r ore except not quite as much silver r Is contained Ined in it Another thing the red metal was found in dry sulphides some twenty-five twenty or thirty thir thit- ty feet above water level evel thus proving the richer sulphides occur even above actual water mark marlc Properly speaking two strikes are reported at the mine one closely following the other The he second is the rich cross ledge encountered at the foot toot level It Is dipping almost ver vera and the shaft Is skimming shimming along the wall As AI they get into it the ore shows marked increase In value and they are piling ailing It up for shipment They have en encountered encountered encountered en- en countered water at the mine now which will doubtless result in some very ery high grade ore being found The shaft Is feet deep am and will be continued another thirty feet before crosscutting Is done The workings are getting Into the large ore bodies and many and varied changes will be noted from now on V At the Ramsey-Bonanza Ramsey mine rich ore has been struck In two places In a crosscut crosscut crosscut cross cross- cut being driven from the lower incline shaft to the vertical working shaft The first strike is a quartz that occurs near the hanging wall walI accompanied by a talc seam eighteen or or V twenty Inches thick The talc tale as well wen as the quartz c carries values averaging 40 a ton while about a foot of ot the ore lying against the talc talo will run well up into the hun hun- V V The second strike was made a few feet It further r is evidently on n In inan r ai an a g blue ore e c carrying porphyry hnry sulphides It was es not expected this vein would run as high as the first one but a test showed it earned even higher values values' than the por por- quartz were made from flom the ore and showed very coarse gold The Bonanza group Is noted for forthe forthe forthe the coarse gold found in the ledges but this latest find is ir better belter In this respect than any other The blue porphyry vein is ls about three feet teel wide and occurs near the center of the big ledge They are arenow arenow arenow now sinking again In the big shaft and andare andare andare are down about seventy feet teet from sur sur- face They Intend sinking at least GOO feet teet and will crosscut every foot level At the old od Garavanta mine they have encountered the tha hanging wall of the great dike known as the mother lode ode and have found ore much above the general ave aye rage Generally speaking the property Is a big low grader with vast quantities t rr t Xa of milling ore exposed a although at In intervals in- in ore chutes are uncovered of shipping shipping ship ship- ping value anywhere from one to five feet wide Near the hanging wall of the great porphyry dike they h have ve V found a vein five feet teet wide that is richer than any so far encountered Considered either as asa asa asa a shipping proposition or as the means of ot bringing up the general average it Is a valuable asset to the mine The strike occurred at the end of ot the foot toot tunnel tunnel tun tun- nel They will continue crosscutting the huge ledge and will doubtless encounter Above many e t this ore t tunnel chutes t two between t more e i the are dI driven walls each over feet teet long and showing just such vast quantities of ore orb as are seen in the lower one Further up the ravine two incline shafts are sunk on either wall of ot another parallel ledge At this point a crosscut was run eighty feet teet toward the hanging wall wan on the foot toot level The entire V distance gave values close to 10 per ton gold god and the hanging wall wail is over twenty feet further on Water drove the workers out but they are a arranging oik Sm ep ern to put a pump and Joist hoist o In and d da will ft soon be at work again on this promising part of the property The Garavanta mine is getting better and richer every day |
