J Fred Anderson Ander- Ander I son who Is In charge Is very well pleased with the attendance ot of the I 1 school which is held eVery Monday I Wednesday and Friday from 7 to 9 p p. p m. m I It is really subdivided Into three dl- dl vIsions t the e seventh and eighth grades I the business course cours and the foreign foreign- ers The seventh and eighth grades are arc attended mainly by younger students students stu- stu I I dents who were not able to finish the I grade school because ot of the necessity of working These students show I their determination in their endeavor to gain an education and so the they w consequently con con- conI I resume from the point where here I i they were compelled by circumstances lIto l i iI I Ito to discontinue their learning The I business business- course alms aims to give regular I II I business subjects such as shorthand I typewriting bookkeeping and commercial commer- commer i cial arithmetic These give the pupil an Intelligent appreciation ot of the principles prin- prin i I ot of trade and s some me conception of I I the Importance ot of commerce or in I general a fair comprehension ot of business bustness bust bust- I I ness ethics I But the thing ot of greatest importance importance import import- I ance and probably the most Interesting interesting Interest Interest- ing is the class ot of foreigners a large percentage of whom are enrollment totals The foreign over I and much be told of real Interest I IFor For instance one man comes with his tour four sons another who had some schooling In his native land is taking extra subjects and preparing for the I university They are taught to read and write and stress is put on citizenship which prepares the men for naturalization and makes them more fit to enter this great melting pot as citizens tar far better and much benefited by the knowledge gained No tee fee Is charged except in course where 1 a month is re- re The library at the school I I which Is a branch ot of the tree free public library and very well stocked with books is also thrown open to their needs In conjunction with the above is the machine shop which Is always tilled filled with busy men This section of the night school has an enrollment of ninety men Mr Kolb who is in charge ot of this work Is a thorough mechanic me- me I chanc and all ot of the rive five instructors have not only the abilIty but have actually been engaged along this line I from ten to seventeen years and are therefore competent Instructors 1 The men are informed In the fields l ot of auto mechanics or 01 auto repairing machine shop and auto ignition All the machines and apparatus ot of the entire entire en- en tire technical building are put at the disposal ot of the men and not only are the men given a theoretical knowledge but a practical training as well forthe for tor the one does not accomplish results without the other Some exceedingly I good work has been done and it all undergoes rigid inspection before being turned out I |
