L PIttock connected with the Portland Portland Portland Port Port- land Oregonian since 1868 and Its publisher publisher publisher pub pub- lisher for more than sixty years ears died here Tuesday night following an ill illness illness ill ill- ness of several weeks' weeks duration He lie was 83 years old Mr Pittock a native of England came to this country with his parents in 1839 and settled in Pitts Pittsburg burg Pa j where he learned printing in a shop established by his father In 1858 he lie and an elder eider brother came to Portland where the future publisher pub isher obtained work on the Weekly Oregonian agreeing agreeing agreeing agree agree- ing to work six months for board and lodging only Before the six elx months had passed however the proprietor I Thomas rhomas A A.
