Show SALT LAKE COUNTY RECREATION by H. E. Babcoek Boys' Basketball In the Little Giants league that opened Friday, Feb. 3, consisting consist-ing of 5th and 6th graders, found the Golden Hawks on the short end of a 25 to 2 score as they were defeated by the Seagulls. Bus Strand with 10 points, Dennis Den-nis Miller with 6 and Dick Montoya Mon-toya with 5 were the high scorers scor-ers for the Seagulls. Dallas Hak-anson Hak-anson scored the only two points for thf Golden Hawks on a couple of charity tosses. In the second game we had an identical score as the Cougars walloped the Mohawks. Cresie Herren, Layne Caldwell, Louis Sarrao and Tony Menna were the big guns for the Cougars. Tommy Lovat scored the only field goal for the Mohawks. In th3 third game the hot Navy Juniors defeated a smaller Miners Min-ers team 66 to 2. Dickie Susaeta split the nets for a total of 32 points. Russell Ridder with 12, Ronnie Boren .with 12, Shadow Pando with 6, and Jr. Montoya with 4 were the other scorers. Little Louis Susaeta scored the only two points for the Miners with two free tosses. Schedule for Friday. Feb. 10. 3:30 Miners vs Cougars 4:10 Seagulls vs Navy Juniors 4:50 Golden Hawks vs Mohawks. Mo-hawks. In a regular arranged game on Saturday the Copperton 7th and 8th graders defeated the Bingham Bing-ham 7th and 8th graders by a score of 27 to 22. Muhar and Butt led the Copperton team with 9 and 10 points respectively. Various floor games were played play-ed starting with the 3rd graders and up. Attendance for Saturday reached 120. |
