Show TAFT SEES BRITISH GOLF CHAMPION BEVERLY, Mass., Sept. 6. Two prominent exponents of golf in this country and Great Britain clasped hands, but did not cross clubs, at the Myopia Hunt club yesterday, for President Presi-dent Taft is too modest regarding his ability to match his gsme against Henry H. Hilton, the British champion, who is in this countrv with the avowed purpose to lift the Havemeyer cup at the national championship at Apawamis next week. The president was content to pursue his own ball with Major Butt as a competitor, but he kept within a couple of holea of Mr. Hilton, so that he might pick up a few binta of the visitor's wonderful game. |
