Show SUPPLY OF MILK SHOWS BETTERMENT Bacteriological Tests Find One Sample Far From Standard. That the quality of the Salt Lake milk supply is steadily becoming better bet-ter is shown by tests of samples of milk gathered on July 21 and 25 and analyzed bv City Bacteriologist R. W. Ashley. While an improvement is shown generally in the grade of the milk, yet there still are a few samples which fall below tbe requirements in the bacteria test, and . J. rraner, city food and dairy commissioner, today to-day directed letters to three dairymen notifying them to use more precaution to reduce the bacteria or prosecution would result. The testa show an excellent grade of "habv special," only one dairyman ranging 4.1.000 to the cubic centimeter. The law allows 50,000, but Mr. Frazier is endeavoring to hold the bacteria down to 30,000- ihlheTTiahy- special milk The sample from the Superior dairy No. 2 showed 120,000 bacteria. While tbe law allows this, Mr. Frazier declares that it is too high for "special" "spe-cial" milk. The last test of the Superior Su-perior showed 620,000, indicating marked improvement. Three samples of commercial milk were foundto contain above the allowance allow-ance of bacteria. These were the Sunflower, Sun-flower, Bonneville No. 1 and J. . Hill. These samples showed 1.300,000. 560, 01KI and 9O0.000 bacteria per cubic cen temeter, respectively. Letters were sent to these notifying tbem that they must use every possible means to reduce re-duce the bacteria. The result of the analysis follows: BABY SPECIAL MII.K. i i ! Z 3 : ?? I t? h: r M.
