Show LELAND STANFORD MAN HONORED AT COLUMBIA NEW YOBK. June io.-William C. Francis of Leland Stanford. Jr., univer sity haa been nsfaed by the Columbia faculty as the winner of the McKim fellowship, one of the most coveted prize in architecture in this country. Under the terms of the fellowship its recipient must spend two year at the American academy in Rome, aad in visiting historic European cities. Mr. Francis will leave for Rome in August. According to Mra. Isaac L. Rice, the wealthy president of the association, "the use of these startling home is terrifying and useless." The police, ahe urges, should be compelled to i take the numbers of machines using the i shrieking horns and report them to the health department, which, she thinks, haa power to auppresa the nuisance. |
