Show MOTOR FREIGHT BOATS. , The Hamburg-American SteaiusHp company ia building a number of great motor boats for carrying carry-ing freight on the trans-Atlantic routes. They will burn oil, have no funnels, and the thought is to save for cargo a world of space now occupied by boilers and coal, and also to greatly reduce the number of men employed. The new ships will be ready toward the close of the present year. It i further announced an-nounced that these freight ships will be followed by passenger motor boats, which will be of the largest and fleetest type. Behind all this, we. suspect, is a thought of the Panam canal, and what the world's trade will need when that new. route of commerce shall be open. All the world's nations seem interested inter-ested in that save the United States. |
