Show COLONEL SCOTT MAY RETIRE FROM ARMY Information has been received here that Col. Walter 8. Scott, commander of the fifteenth infantry. United States army, has been ordered to appear before a military board at San Antonio, TPX- ; for retirement. Colonel Scott has been in ill health for some time and it is understood un-derstood that physical disability is the sole reason for his retirement from active ac-tive service. Colonel Scott it sixth on the list of infantry colonels in the army and is a veteran in the service of his country. He was appointed as second lieutenant, from civil life, in the twenty fifth in fan try in 1474, and rose steadily in rank until 1SH5, when be waa named as colonel of the fifteenth. He left Fort Douglas with hia command last winter when the regiment was ordered to the Mexican frontier. It ia expected thst Colonel and Mrs. Scott will return to this city to spend some time prior to his final retirement from the army. 1 |
