Show GIRLS CHARGED WITH BEATINS HAN (Special to The Telegram.) LOGAN. Msy 13. Afton Benson and Luella Benson, dsughters of B. T. Benson, Ben-son, a. big land holder at Trenton. Cache county, were arraigned before Judge William Wil-liam Brannham of Logan, this afternoon on the charge of battery. Both entered a plea of not guilty. The complaining witness In the case Is Thomas H. Cutler, postmaster of Trenton and the leading merchant of that town. The complaint la the result of an alleged al-leged attack on the postmaster by the two young women several days ago In which the postmaster got decidedly the worst of the encounter. He was so badly bruised hv the rocks thrown by the two young women that he waa In bed for several sev-eral days. The trouble occurred at the railroad station at Trenton, and according accord-ing to the statement of Interested persons waa the culmination of a long etandlng grudge on 4he part of the Benson family against Cutler. ' , For a number of months one of the clerks In t'utler's store, was Miss Luella Benson. Several months ago Cutler asked the father of tbe girl for his consent to their msrrlage. The father refused and short time later Henson opened a etore In opposition to that of Cutler and placed his daughter In charge. It la said, with the Idea of gaining public sympathy and driving Cutler out of business. |
