Show HE DID NOT SHOW UP. Dr. Hyatt kept in doors yesterday. It was well for him. He promised people a clear and beautiful day and warmer, and then to get up and find all the air filled with snow, all the pavements covered with snow, and a chill in the air that would have frozen a polar bear, naturally caused people to turn in a rage to the weather prophet that would play such a joke upon them. Sometimes Dr. Hyatt makes innocent mistakes and people find excuses for him. They know that in this valley, with sharp canyons all around, with "Wyoming "Wy-oming and Colorado filled with envious winds, and labor strikes raging in Nevada, and with the strike spirit strong in Idaho, the, best of prophets may slip up when it comes to predicting weather. But that storm yesterday was a direct imposition. It was full of the elements which, when transferred to men, make them feel like committing murder. A great many people early in the morning thought there were signs of the storm giving way and read Dr. Hyatt's promises, and so went down town without with-out umbrellas, only to find when lunch time came that they were either to do without lunch or go after it in weather that was' liable to make an Easter hat look like a coal skuttle. It was well Dr. Hyatt kept very closely in his quarters yesterday. |
