March 2: When Charles Ratkin, James Isakin and John Sholda were brought ' before Municipal - Judge Newcomer, in the Harrison Street court to answer to the charge of having broken a window In Loop liotel, 107 Fifth avenue, the fact was brought out that Chicago certainly has one strong.armed woman whose record Is enough to make big men sit up and take notice. Mrs. Helen Aloe, the proprietress of the hotel,- was the complaining witness, and when she was asked to tell her side of the story she began addressing the court in German. Judge Newcomer called a halt and the . woman began to laugh and finally broke Into tears. Then Miss Fannie Fay. a. chambermaid ; at the Loop hotel, told of having thrown the men downstairs. "Sure," she said. "I did not want to see any rough house in the hotel, so I threw them downstairs." This statement was vouched for by the three men, who admitted that their combined com-bined efforts were not sufficient to withstand with-stand Miss Fay's attack. Ratkin weighs about 200 pounds. |
