Show BEGINS AGITATION FOR SANE FOURTH OF JULY a The annual agitation for a safe ami sane Fourth of July has been begun by the National Fire Protection association associ-ation in the form of a bulletin, a copy of which has bee received bv Willard Done, state insurance commissioner. The bulletin contains a statement compiled by the Journal of the American Medical association, showing the deaths and injuries in-juries due to Fourth of July eelebra tions from 1903 to 1912, inclusive. The number of casualties have been reduced from 466 dead and 3983 Injured in 1903 to St dead and 679 injured in 191 'J. The casualties in 1912 were due to the following causes ; Fireworks, 5 dead, 328 injured; cannons, 1 dead, 4 injured; firearms, 6 dead, 84 injured ; gunpowder, 6 dead, 96 in jured ; toy pistols, pis-tols, 1 dead, 48 injured; runaways, 1 dead. 20 injured; torpedoes, 33 injured, and bomb canes, 7 injured. |
