Show UNION MEN RESUME WORK ON BUILDING CfCTTY HICII SCHOOL Metal Workers, Steamfit-ters Steamfit-ters and Plumbers Leave Strikers' Banks. Union plumbers, steam fitters aad some sheet metal workers resumed work OB the bow high school building this morning, aceordiag to information from the office of P. J. Moraa, who holds the contract for tha erection of the building. All erafte needed at tho prea-ent prea-ent time are now represented at tho now high school except structural iron workers. J. M. It ia known that the plumbers and steam fitters had a committee wait on the electricians a few days ago aad permission was aaked to reoaaie work on the high school oa account of a pledge made to the school board by thoee organizations at tha time of tho abrogation of the contract of the work wai, Id he finihd Both the sheet metal workers and the .structural iron worker have been negotiating with the contractors for several days and it waa reported this morning that an agreement le expected within a day or two. It is possible that some action along this line will b taken at the meeting of the Building Trades council tonight. Tho bricklayer ar making no move toward a settlement at this time, awaiting await-ing tha arrival of a representative of th International union, who i expected expect-ed to reach here some time today. The electrician appear to be making the most stubborn fight just bow, ana there is little prospect of a settlemeut of their differences with the contractors contrac-tors R. W. Nicol, preeident of the Salt Isake Electric company, left Saturday Sat-urday night for Butte. It is rumored that be will call a meeting of the managers man-agers of the various houses he controls in Montana, which may result in further fur-ther negotiations for a settlement. The work of remodeling the Interior of the MrCornick baak is likly to be delayed on account of the labor trou-iblee. trou-iblee. The contract has been let to a Chicago firm, under the supervision of a Chicago architect, with the exception of the electrical work which is to be done by the Tntermountain Electric company. The Chicago firm ha arranged ar-ranged to send unioa foremen who will employ Iocs union workmen, hut the hitch comes when the foreman refuse to work on a contract where nonunion labor l employed. Effort are being made to effect a satisfactory eettle-ment. |
