Show JOSEPH LIPPMAN IS ; HOME AFTER VISIT TO PANAMA CANAL 1 Says Every American Who Can Afford It Should View Great Work. Jeeeaa Ueneaan end Mrs. Lippman returned to the city today after a delightful de-lightful West Indiaa tour and a visit to the Panama canal. They were away four weeks, during whieh they visited Kingston, Jamaica; Santiago de Cuba, San Jose, Costa Bica; Santa Marts, Colombia, Co-lombia, and Colon. From Colon they crossed the isthmus of Panama, inspecting inspect-ing the locks, Culebra cut and all the other great features of the world's greatest ditch. "The canal is stupendous," said Mr. Lippman. "It is certainly the world ' greatest engineering feat, and every American who can possibly do so should visit the wonderful work before the ws ter is turned in. It is a light that no one living today will ever have the chance to see again." Mr. Lippman says that the impetus given to coastwise business on both the Atlantic and the Pacific sides is remarkable, re-markable, and particularly so on the Atlantic side. Boats are erowded and heavier freighte are carried than ever before. i "Passenger travel ia heavy at this J time by reason of the work on the canal and the world wide interest in the great undertaking. All boats have long waiting lists for aU trips. The benefit that the canal has given to the Sooth American and southern Atlantic , ports in increased business cannot be estimated." |
