There has never baan a state swimming swim-ming meet held In Utah, although there hava been a numbar of dual meets held In this city during tha paat two years between be-tween teams of the Salt Lake high school, Deseret, San and T. M. C- A. teams The Deseret gym has held a number of handicap matches smong the different classes this year and has given medals to the winners, on each of which etate champion waa engraved. The tnatructors of the other schools and gymnasiums do not think this is a wise plan, and figure that a tournament in which any amateur athlete In the state could enter would be the pro-per thing to ba Introduced hi "Zlon." a Instructor Beck, of the Pan gym will W try and srrange for a meeting this week of all the coaches and gymnasium In tructors of the city, to make all arrangements arrange-ments for the first state tournament Beck states that either the Deseret ot San gym would be a good place to hold tha tournament. An admission could be charged, he auggeats, to cover tha expenses ex-penses of the meat.
