Show SEEGMILLER FINDS JOKER IN HOUSE SCHOOLBILL Causes Recommittal of Measure to Committee on Education House bill No. 33, introduced by Representative Rep-resentative Wood, came up on its third reading In the house yesterday, having been reported favorably by the committee on education, and apparently appar-ently had smooth sailing ahead when Representative SeegmilltT called attention at-tention to what looked to him like a Joker. I Tho measure pertains to state school funds, amending sections 4564 and 455 of th compiled laws of 1917, section 4565 being chanpcU so that it would read: "IS late school funds apportioned to any district or city hoard of education shall be used only for the payment of salaries of teachers, supervisors and superintendents who hld valid certificates certifi-cates or diplomas Issued by the tTtah state board of education; provided, that the salary of a teacher, supervisor or superintendent, whose application for -a certificate -or diploma has been duly acknowledged by an officer of the state board of education, may be pa id fr"m state school funds tin til "fl TWIT Iff TnTteTT 7VTT TTlrflpTnTa?'n1"" """" ' It was this that Mr. Soegmiller objected ob-jected to. He said that It would restrict re-strict the school fund to use tn paying pay-ing teachers' salaries. Instead of salary sal-ary and maintenance. lie moved that the bill 1 recommitted to the committee com-mittee on education, and this was agreed to. |
