Show Comic Ballet Is Liked by S. L. Audience No an was aaf from an unmerciful un-merciful lampooning at Kingsbury hall Tuaeday night aa Marie, the servant girl, reached th height at atardom, married her millions, then tobogganed on a lov affair with a young artist Th story of Maria waa presented by Trudy Schoop and her dancing comedian In a refreshing and novel number on the Clvlo Music association program. Mia Schoop choregraphtr of th ballet, portrayed blonde Marie through eight sctnts, atartlng with her Job as houeemald and ending up with th shooting of htr rich but aging husband to promote publicity pub-licity and fam for her artist protege. Program Not Needed In auch excellent fashion was th comic ballet presented that It was rarely1 neceaaary, even for tha uninitiated, un-initiated, to refer to program annotations anno-tations to follow Marie' adventures Maria has trouble at home when she spills tea on the dress of a visiting visit-ing guest, gets a Job as a beerhall maid, flnda romance there and uaaa it aa a stepping aton to atage atar-dom. atar-dom. This I followed by marriage to the Broadway playboy, who isn't aa young as ha used to be. Then cornea tha young artist and it is all over for Maria. Tha entire presentation was so well done that it would be difficult to pick out any outatanding scene. Many favored the premiere of the operetta. "Tha Blonde Marie." in which Marie rode to sudden fame. It waa remarkably well done, with Miaa Schoop being pressed for honors hon-ors by Edith Carola aa tha willowy, beanpoleish prima donna. Miaa Carola, Incidentally, was right on Mia Schoop' heel all th way when it came to dividing Individual honor for the performance. Faker Were Popular Another outatanding acene waa the beer parlor romance of Maria with tha performance of the two fakers, portrayed by Meta Krahn and Otto Ulbrlcht, bringing forth galea of laughter.. During. the latter half of tha performance per-formance the dancer were hard put to hold the center of attention, the audience having reserved seats for the fire which awept the old University of Utah minea building near by. Tha ballet waa entertaining to a high degree, an entirely acceptable diversion from the Individual artists who fill tha remainder of the association asso-ciation program thla year. Next attraction scheduled by the association I Marlon Anderson, noted negro songbird, who will appear ap-pear in concert March 11. |
