In one instance a plant -which had closed down for three weeks and which, at the time of closing, was not expected to reopen possibly until about February i, resumed operations with a full working force, of 3000, while the majority of others reopened under a part time basis, but under conditions, as declared by officials, pointing to a resumption of normal production in the near future. , The important statement is made by the heads of alt the large automobile factories in , Detroit that orders are beginning to arrive in sufficient numbers to insure the plants a gradual and steady increase in production. In view of the fact that the automobile industry in-dustry has grown" in the past few years to one of the greatest in the. world, and thereby consistently, con-sistently, can be regarded as a trade barometer, the reports of the resumption of operations and the receipt of orders sufficient to insure the steady increase in production, should be a sufficient suffi-cient guaranty that the general business affairs of America are moving in the right direction.
