ORDERS 1 0 MAIHLIMERS Ten new Douglas Mainllnrrs have been ordered by the United Air Lanes to supplement Its present fleet of S twin-engined transports in carrying a quarter of a million passengers pas-sengers in KM. S. R. Newman, district dis-trict traffic manager, said Tuesday on hi return from Chicago, where he attended the company's annual traffic conference. About 73,0(10 of these passenger! will travel through Salt Lake OtyT' he estimated, as compared with 1100 passengers 10 years ago. The new plant! will provide a 13 per cent increase in seat space for the coming year. New operations procedure will include guaranteed salary to pilots: new higher minimum mini-mum altitudes of flight over the entire en-tire system, with automatic recording record-ing barographs to check actual flight levels of each trip: installation installa-tion of antistatic radio devices, and cruising of planes at only 50 per cent of available power. |
