Show 'FORMER DAVIS OFFICIAL DIES Seth Chauncey Jones, 77, of 343 East South Temple street, former mayor of Kaysvllle and former county clerk of Da via county, died In a Salt Lake hospital Saturday at 10 a. m. Mr, Jones was 'bora In Parowan, May IT, 1862, a son of Nathaniel V. and Mary Brown Jones. He was graduated aa a civil engineer from the old University of Deseret and worked as a surveyor on the Denver it Rio Grande Western railroad for several years. Later, he moved to Thatcher, Ariz., and was superintendent of the M. I. A. and L. D. S. Sunday school. He filled a mission to the eastern state and later was bishop of the Marlon L. D. S. ward, where he operated a ranch In Summit county. He returned to Kaysvllle In 1892, organized the Kaysvllle Creamery company and later was elected mayor. Mr. Jones moved to Salt Lake City four years ago and, until his recent illness, was employed at the state capitol. He married Anne Layton In the Lagan U Di B. temple In 1884. In addition to his widow, he Is survived by two daughters. Mrs. Norman Lloyd, Berkeley, Cal, and Mr. Reed Stevens, Salt Lake City, and eight grandchildren. The Larkin mortuary, 360 East South Temple street, will announce an-nounce funeral arrangements. |
