Show The Family Scrapbook By DR. ERNEST G. OSBORNE Mrs. Knowles waa talking with some of her friends about the way social studies were being be-ing taught In the high school. At one point she said. "Lst'a I ask Mary Ann (her 18-year-old daughter). She ought to be an expert on that" And so for 20 minutes, Mary Ann gave her ldeaa about what was being done. Too seldom do we stop to think that our children may be the experts on a good many things. Tet we all know that many a boy knows far more about radio than does his dad. And It's not at all unlikely that glrla who have had good courses in clothing at school may have better Ideas about style and color combinations than does mother. In all sorts of areas the youngsters are the experts as far aa the family IS concerned. The lift they get when they are called on to play the expert's ex-pert's role Is a very Important part In the growth of self-confidence. It also makes them appreciate ap-preciate their parents or other members of the family who look to them for help and advice. |
