Show ! POST OFFICE LISTS RESTRICTIONS Lack of fuel for normal opera tion of trains using coal has made necessary curtailment of train service. The office of defense de-fense transportation has placed an embargo on certain express and freight shipments and has made written request to the post office department for an embargo of comparable extent on mail matter in order that coal conser vation may be effected. Therefore effective 12:01 a.m. December 6 and until further notice, no-tice, no article of first class mail, including air mail, weighing in excess of 5 pounds and no parcels par-cels of fourth class matter exceeding ex-ceeding 5 pounds in weight or 18 inches in length or 60 inches in length and girth combined shall be accepted for mailing provided that these limitations shall not j apply to the following items or in the following circumstances: I Day-old chicks, cut flowers, seeds, plants and other nursery stock; eggs, butter and other perishable food products normally norm-ally accepted; serums, medicines, drugs, surgical instruments and dressings and hospital supplies; shipments of money in the registered regis-tered mail; local parcels and all local matter for delivery on local rural and star routes; parcels addressed ad-dressed to members of the armed forces and other persons served through armv Dost offices and : fleet offices; and films. During the emergency, accept- l ance of international parcel post packages will be limited to those j containing serums, medicines, ! drugs, surgical instruments and dressings and hospital supplies. : Acceptance of mail for foreign j destinations exoept medicinal j parcels listed above will be restricted re-stricted to first class articles weighing not in excess of 4-lbs 6 1 ounces, prints, samples, small packets and commercial papers. However, the domestic restric- 1 tions will apply to all mails for Canada, Mexico and to territories and possessions of the United i States. |
