It has been recently noted that many boys are violating the game laws of the Statf by killing snowbirds, or shore larks. By means of a noose of small wire, some of the boys snare large numbers of these birds and many others - are being shot with air guns and target rifles. The birds have been driven close in to the city In large flocks by the cold weather. The snowbirds are classed with Insectivorous In-sectivorous birds, for the killing of which the State laws provide a penalty of $10 fine, and it is the intention of the game wardens to prosecute offenders who continue to slaughter the birds. |
