Show OLD CLOTHING DRIVE STATEMENT Every pound of the clothing contributed by the American people in the nation-wide clothing cloth-ing collection last spring and summer will be in the hands of war sufferers overseas by Christmas, Christ-mas, it was announced by Henry J. Kaiser, national chairman of the United National clothing collection. col-lection. Mr. Kaiser's statement was received re-ceived here today by the local chairman of the drive, who made it public. The statement said: "Based on figures supplied to me by UNRRA, I can now assure you that by September 30, all the clothing collected in the drive will be baled for overseas shipment. ship-ment. By the end of October the last bales will be on ships bound for Europe, the Far East, and the South Pacific. "Already one hundred million pounds of used clothing contributed contrib-uted only a few months ago has been baled and shipped, or scheduled sched-uled for shipment to the needy and destitute in lands devastated by war and looted by the enemy. Much of this clothing has already been distributed in European lands. "The Chinese will soon receive 10,500,000 pounds of the contributed contrib-uted clothes, shoes and bedding. One boat in September and two in October will each carry 3,500,-000 3,500,-000 pounds for distribution in China where winter weather is bitter. "The Filipinos, too, will soon be wearing contributed shoes and clothing. The first peace-time cargo car-go to leave an Atlantic port for the Philippines since Pearl Harbor Har-bor included 63 carloads of contributed con-tributed clothing.
