Show The Taltgriin Was Fair to Mr. Debi. To the Editor of The Salt Lake Telegram: There has been a great deal of talk concerning the recent re-cent appearance of Eugene V. Debs in the city, and I have heard it freely stated that you refused to publish extracts from his speech or give him any notice whatever, as has been the policy of other papers In Salt Lake. Now, I have Just become a subsc.iber of The Telegram. I know that It reaches more of the producing and laboring class than any other paper published in this State, and therefore I ask if you wUl give the Socialist speakers fair treatment. Tho Telegram gave Mr. Eune Debs all the attention that lie deserved, de-served, on account of his prominence in the political world and the fact that he was the residential candidate can-didate of a national party. ' The Telegram is open to men of ALL PARTIES, men of ALL CREEDS, and ALL CLASSES. It tries to be fair to all elements and strives to publish a paper pa-per that gives a complete and unbiased narrative of the happenings of the day. Of course, every speaker speak-er for the Socialists will receive fair treatment from The Telegram. Mr. Debs was given a story on the front page of The Telegram the day he arrived here, and a column story of his speech. In the present complex condition of affairs In Utah, The Telegram is printing the NEWS. It believes be-lieves that the people of Utah are so enlightened and so intelligent that they do not require the advice of The Telegram to enable them to vote RIGHT. |
