B. Qhl has his chambers, and holds court. Until a few weeks ago this series of offices has been an actual disgrace to the city government, govern-ment, and has not been in keeping, In its state of dilapidation and decay; with a court of justice. ' , ,; Some weeks ago an appropriation was made by the Council, for the refurbishing refurbish-ing and repair of the courtroom and the offices, and for the past two weeks court has been held in the quarters of the patrolmen, downstairs, where there . has not been sufficient room for the transaction of business. Within the next two or three days, however, the conditions will have been ! remedied as the work of the decorators and cleaners has almost been com-pletsd, com-pletsd, and the new quarters are nearly ready for occupancy-Hereafter, occupancy-Hereafter, the Judge and the court will have quarters that will be a credit to the city. Judge Diehl's . chambers have been repainted and repapered. The walls are In a rich green, with white woodwork, done in enamel. The alcove has been fitted up for the reception ot the law library of the court and a fine rug has been placed on the floor.' ' The office of City Prosecutor Wllley has been finished with walls of pink, and a border and celling of fancy and artlBtic design. New linoleum has been .laid, and all of the woodwork has been varnished in natural oak graining. A railing separates the offices of the prosecutor and the clerk from the public, pub-lic, giving them the necessary privacy for the transaction of the business of the court. . The broken window lights have been replaced with whole ones, and all of the desks, and tables -In the various offices and the courtroom have been varnished and covered with green baize. Similar changes bae been made in the police courtroom. The walls, formerly for-merly of a dirty and nondescript color are now of a rich terra ootta, with fancy green border and stray colored ceiling. Where the Judge formerly . faced the west, he will hereafter look toward the north and the spectators will face the south. The policemen's box is on the south side of the room, facing the east, and near the Judge's dais. The witness box Is between them, facing north. A neatly painted iron railing separates the court and attendants from the spectators. spec-tators. The reporters' table Is placed directly in front of and facing the Judge and the witness b5x. AU of the furniture and woodwork has been re-varnished re-varnished and baize covers have been placed on all of the desks and tables. .
