Show Tht Modern Circus. The circus has come and gone and it has brought joy to the hearts of all the young and to those of a good many who are not so young. There is scarcely a man who does not enjoy going go-ing to the circus. Jf he doesn't it is because he lias got out of the, nabit of enjoying much of anything. And there is no reason why one 'shouldn't enjoy, it. There is nothing corrupting or demoralizing about the"circu8, and there is no little that is instructive. in-structive. As for amusement, we had rather see a circus than anything that is going. j The modern circus is a wonderful enterprise. It is distinctly American, and it appeals to the American Ameri-can spirit of getting all the fun out of life that there is to be had. That's why the circus is sosuccessful from a busiuess standpoint. It gets close to the people. It appals to the child born in the purple as much as it does to the child of the streets, and it attracts the dainty society dame as strongly as it does the fanner's wife. ' The coming of the circus is an event fu any community. com-munity. Incidentally, it goes away with more money mon-ey than it had when it came, but what of that? We don't want our fun for notliing. And we never beard of a town being bankrupted by the visit of the circus. Long may it live, and it will live so long as there are little folk who want to see the elephant and elders el-ders who are willing to take them to see it. |
