Show ROBERT E. PATTISON, FORMER GOVERNOR OF . PENNSYLVANIA, DEAD PHILADELPHIA, Aug-. L Robert E. Pattlson, who was twice Democratic Democrat-ic Governor of Pennsylvania, and twice Comptroller of Philadelphia, died early today at his home In Overbrook, a suburb sub-urb of this city. Pneumonia, complicated compli-cated with a weakness oi the heart, was the cause of death. He was S3 years old. Mr. Pattlson was a candidate -for Governor on the Democratlo ticket in 1902 against Gov. Pennypacker, and had not been a well man since his laborious campaign of that year, when his tour i of seven weeks covered nearly every county in the State. ' , ' He was a member of the committee ' on resolutions -of - the Democratic convention con-vention at St, Louis and his . health failed under the strain. He remained in St. Louis a few days after the convention con-vention to rest and, returning home, he resumed his business, dividing his time between this city and New York. '. Last Friday- pneumonia developed, and heart disease complicated Mr. Pat-tlson's Pat-tlson's illness. .Yesterday his condition was encouraging-, but late last night he collapsed. Saline injections were resorted re-sorted to, but the patient sank rapidly and died shortly after 6 o'clock today. |
