Show HOLD-UP IS. CAPTURED Intended Victim Got Out His Gun First and Duel Follows. PORTLAND, Jan. 26. A sensational revolver duel occurred between L. D. Keyser, a Southern Pacific conductor, and a highwayman, at an early hour this morning, as Keyser was crossing the Madison street bridge on his way home. When nearing the east end of the bridge, Keyser saw a man fixing a mask upon his face and drew his revolver re-volver Just as the fellow turned and ordered Keyser to throw up his hands. Keyser replied by commencing to shoot. A fusillade of shots was exchanged, both men emptying their revolvers. When unable to continue firing, the robber ran towards the west end of the bridge and was captured by the bridge-tender. bridge-tender. Keyser was hit twice, once in the arm and once in the shoulder. The robber was hit twice in the hand and once In the groin. |
