There are indications that' San Francisco Is to have another transcontinental railroad line. The new road which the San Francisco Terminal Railway and Ferry company - proposes - to - build will run from Oakland through Haywards, LIv-ennore, LIv-ennore, Stockton. Marysville and Oro-ville. Oro-ville. From that point It. will follow branches of the Feather river to Beck- with Pass, over to Purdy on the State line, and then across northern Nevada and Utah to connect with one of the four big Eastern lines that end at Ogden, Og-den, or In western Wyoming. It is asserted by an official of the company that satisfactory Eastern connections con-nections have already been made. The incorporators of the company are local men, but there is a widespread belief that the Gould interests afe behind the enterprise. The Terminal company is incorporated for $5,000,000 and it plans I to connect San Francisco with the San Joaquin and Santa Clara valleys. These plans, It has been explained, are connected con-nected with the plans of the Stockton & Beckwlth Pass railroad, which Is being be-ing promoted by the same men and which has been Incorporated with a capital stock of 115,000,000 for the purpose pur-pose of building a road from Stockton to the California-Nevada State line by way of Sacramento, OrovUlc and the Beckwlth pass. Terminals have been acquired, franchises fran-chises have been obtained, rights of way have been secured and numerous surveys "have been made, but the promoters pro-moters of the road have maintained much secrecy regarding their intentions. |
