This would also be a protection to the people who have been ssving for yssrs to get a home of their own. and who. by paying S200 or $300 cash, and the balance in monthly installments, eventually eventual-ly ewe their own hoaiee. Before they have concluded their payments, the bnildings. generally, gen-erally, are ready for heavy and costly repairs. This is owing to the inferior msterisl used snd the poor workmsnship generally put on these buildings, such as adobes laid oa edge, smsll adobes and one smsll adobe back of foorincb hard brick outside wall, the only support-for roof. Not only ths use of small adobes, but also of soft, rotten, slmost Ioniy eun-ariea ones, eeerceiy sufficient to carry their own weight, let alone carrying the weight of roof and otherwiae supporting the building; also the lumbar used In these buildings ia of the cheapest and poorest kind. The cbimneya or Dues are not even plastered plas-tered or parged to prevent danger of fire, thus csusing the fire underwriters to charge a higher rate of insurance and the msterisl men to raise ths price of their different materials ma-terials to protect themselves from the toieota-petent toieota-petent builders who take contracts for buildings build-ings at a price lower than they can to honestly hon-estly built for, and some one haa to atand the lota. I therefore ask your honorable bodies to tske seme action leading to mere just and honorable dealing between all parties and to bring about a better state ia the building business.
