Show THE DEATH OF MRS. WILKES. Worn out by the weight of years, Mrs. MaJ. Wilkes has sunk Into her final sleep. There was no disease the machinery ma-chinery ran down and stopped. A very noble woman was she. In girlhood her life was consecrated to duty, and she followed that path to the end. When the great war was on and the South was destitute of all comforts and most of life's necessities, she was a ministering angel for the wounded and the sick of both armies; a wife and mother and friend and neighbor, she filled every station perfectly, and the sunshine of her heart was the benediction of her hom.( She tolled on until her strength failed her, then she went to her couch, and with the same cheerful spirit that bad always been hers, waited for what came yesterday. May God sanctify her rest and give comfort to her husband hus-band and children. f |
