Show GROW ALFALPA ON HIGH LAND Judge Jacob Johnson Tells the Experience He Has Had in Cultivating Hay Crop at Spring City. Judge Jacob Johnson arrived In Salt Lake this morning from Spring City on his way to Montana on business. Regarding tho conditions in that part of the country. Judge Johnson said: "We are witnessing prosperous times on account of the favorable weather conditions, and the crops are doing fine. This year we have had demonstrated demon-strated the best conditions for the growing of alfalfa. The lowlands have produced poor crops, whereas those of the higher ground are doing fine, the reason for this being that the alfalfa, although It likes water, cannot can-not stand much remaining moisture. Thus I would siy that In planning an alfalfa field it were best to choose land anywhere except In the bottoms. I have hill land and my crops have never been finer than they are this year. "The sugar beet is not much cultivated culti-vated in our section, but what there is Is fine." |
